Andrea Briks and Harald Pahl founded SACO Shipping in Hamburg. The first, small office was located at Ellerholzdamm 12.

The SACO Group is expanded to include PCH, an in-house packing center. This brings benefits such as control over the packing process, increased efficiency and quality. For SACO as an NVOCC, this results in improved flexibility, faster lead times and cost-effectiveness.

1989 - expansion
A new location is established in Bremen. With its proximity to the port and function as a strategic transport hub, it is ideal for efficiently offering services.

SACO Airfreight, now SACO Air, is founded in Norderstedt, near Hamburg Airport. The new subsidiary allows SACO Shipping to offer airfreight services as well.

2004 Joint Venture
SSC Consolidation is founded in Belgium. This is followed by offices in the Netherlands and Dubai. The network has recently been expanded to include an office in France.

As a founding member, SACO plays a key role in the formation and direction of the World Wide Alliance (WWA). Membership not only significantly expands SACO’s global network, but also provides access to new markets and customers, making the range of services more diverse and efficient.

2007 South America
The first branch in South America is opened in Buenos Aires under the name SSL and later rebranded SACO. Over the years, six more branches are added, underlining the importance of South America for the SACO Group and its customers.

2007 Europe office
SACO opens its first Europe office in the Czech Republic in order to provide a local support in the region. In the years to follow, offices in Hungary, Slovakia, Austria and Switzerland are added to extend the presence in Southeast Europe.

2008 Packing Center GVZ-Bremen (PCG)
The SACO Group integrates PCG, another packing center, in Bremen. This growth not only expands packing capacity, but also enables closer and more efficient customer service through improved geographic coverage and specialised services in northern Germany.
